Oh right, Zero Hero, sorry lol. Thanks for clearing the seeds of corruption quest up for me, as well as how you went through fissure so quickly. I thought it was strange that the back door would not open. One thing about the obsidian shards that is strange is that I did recall joining a team in the tombs with a warrior who had some platemail looking armor that I had never seen before. And what I mean is that it definitely wasn't Platemail or 15k citadel armor because I have most of the citadel armor and know what it looks like. So if the obsidian shards do not really exist, then I wonder how that player obtained such cool looking platemail. I wish I had whispered him about it.

Just one thing to consider -- I have gotten Ectoplasm from other places besides Underworld. In Riverside, there is a small area with a bunch of undead, past (I think) the 3rd watchtower. In that area, there are 4 chests, and they drop crafting materials and collector items (I've gotten Icy Lodestones, Ebon Spider Legs, Dark Flame Fangs, Mahgo Claws......). I got a Glob of Ectoplasm from a chest there once, so maybe you can get a shard in this manner? Just my two cents.

"When all else fails, Sasia, Fay and Sin all run away in different directions, one of them will survive and res us when it's safe. The rest of us body block and otherwise insure there safe retreat."
It never ceases to amaze me that this is a tactic that's not understood by 99.9999% of all GW PvE players.
I've been in parties several times now (several times at the end of Gates of Kryta, one time even in Elona's) where we get jumped by a huge mob, three peeps go down in rapid succession, and we're outnumbered at least five to one at that point. Instead of running, the two remaining fellow party members will just stay there and hack, while they're being slaughtered. WHY? Is there some kind of honor code that says, "You will fall with your comrades?"
I will walk away, retreating to safe distance, wait for the mobs to finish mauling my team, watch them walk away, then go back in and ress the whole team. I've saved my team from at least five failed missions by now with this tactic.
In Elona's, one peep even called me a coward for running away, as if standing there and getting slaughtered by lvl 20 enchanted blades and having to redo 30+ minutes of mission is somehow better.
He felt pretty foolish when I single handedly ressed the whole team, and we made the mission with 8 minutes to spare. (And it took me about five mins to ress the whole group in between running away from patrolling mobs )
Running away is a PERFECTLY VALID tactic. Please use it more often

I'd like to thank everyone for not realizing my reply was what bumped the thread, then answering a statement from few weeks ago with a bunch of "lolz i pwn j00 n00b" replies.
Anyway, the question (since it's long-forgotten): while screenshots are nice, can those who have been to the eternal armorer list which components they require by class? Ectoplasm and obsidian shards are a given, what I really want to know is whether I should be taking stacks of parchment or vellum with me.

I think it's a mix of both if you're getting the non-obsidian shard stuff. 25 parchment, and the rest vellum.

I hate seeing people get screwed over this. I normally won't help players get the most out of their money, but I'm tired of the people who don't just *get* their nice armor but feel the need to *talk about it*.
Ectoplasm is currently 3k from rare materials traders. You shouldn't accept much less than the current retail price, if only to piss off the people who want their new ferarri armor so they can pick up chicks.
Shards, while seemingly less-rare, are technically harder to get since materials traders only sell them if someone's sold one to them. Current market price is about 1k each but you should be able to extract 3k from those who are both impatient and lazy.

Guys, you realize how old this post is? Yes, Obsidian shards drop, in Fissure of Woe.
We, my guild and I, have mostly moved on from FoW, to tackle a new challange: To Beat the Underworld!
...
Then we did, in fact, beat the underworld. So, back to Fissure we go. ;p
